How votes are counted

Candidates are counted in the order you rank them. When a candidate has enough votes to win, the unused share of those votes transfers to the next available choice. Votes for an eliminated candidate also move to the next available choice. A published order settles ties.

This is single transferable vote (STV). A candidate wins a seat once they hold more than their share of the ballots; leftover support passes to voters’ next choices, so no vote is wasted.

This election has no minimum turnout and no separate minimum support requirement. A candidate still needs to be ranked on a ballot to win. The ranked count, seat quota and published tie order still decide the result.

If two candidates tie, an order drawn by lot when voting opens decides.

The draw was fixed before anyone could see the candidates: its code (a sha256 hash) is 5d45779391d11e98bc03f1c35fdfc62cc15ed209bce9c42eff2b3a5b24943701.
